The term Antique Classics is used in reference to old cars. According to Antique Automobile Club of America, an antique car is generally defined as a car over 25 years of age. However, the exact legal definition for the purpose of antique vehicle registration varies widely from State to State. With about 12 years being the normal design life of modern cars, 25 years is about double and therefore a car that's reached 25 is a rare survivor, and probably not economic to maintain as regular transportation. The term Classic Car is often used synonymously with the term Antique car, but the formal definition of that term is restricted to specific high-quality vehicles from the pre-World War II era which began with the Great Depression in 1930 and ended with the recovery after World War II in 1948. The Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) defines the term Classic as a “fine" or "distinctive" automobile, either American or foreign built, produced between 1925 and 1948. A Classic was high-priced when it was introduced and was built in very limited quantities. Although, by 1930’s most of the manufacturing technologies had already been invented, certain factors like including engine displacement, custom coachwork and luxury accessories, such as power brakes, power clutch, and automatic lubrication systems, help determine whether a car can be considered a Classic. Some exemplary pre-war Antique Classics are: 1. 1934–1940 Bugatti Type 57. The Type 57SC has become the singular classic car. 2. 1934 Citroлn Traction Avant. Has the distinction of being the first mass-produced front-wheel drive car, 3. 1936 MG T series, a sports car meant especially for American soldiers fighting in the war. 4. 1938 Volkswagen Beetle, the most-famous automobile of all times. It was a pre-war design that continues to exist even in the present times. The CCCA Club keeps a thorough list of the vehicles they consider Classics, and while any member may petition for a vehicle to join the list, such applications are carefully scrutinized and very rarely is a new vehicle type admitted. They also acknowledge the fact that their rather exclusive definition of a classic car is by no means universally followed and hence they generally use terms such as “CCCA Classic” or the trademarked “Full Classic” to avoid confusion. After 1930 the number of auto manufacturers came down sharply, as the industry consolidated, and developed after the war more advances in engine design were made, like the compression V8 engines and modern bodies from General Motors, Oldsmobile and Cadillac brands.

Indoor plants how they help us at home and work
An idea that's being planted in more and more offices, senior centers and homes is one that may surprise many people: namely, the benefits of indoor plants. Simply put, being close to plants reduces stress. Research has shown that heart rate, blood pressure and skin conductivity all benefit from the presence of plants and that people in planted offices recover from stress more quickly than those in unplanted offices. The effect is likely to be most significant in situations where the tasks being performed are repetitive or not requiring high levels of concentration. Studies in the U. S. also show that by reducing stress and improving attentiveness, plants can improve workplace productivity. A number of studies also show that plants can reduce the incidence of minor health complaints in the working environment. For example, in one Norwegian study, after plants were installed in the trial offices, staff complaints about: • Fatigue were reduced by 30 percent • Headaches were reduced by 25 percent • Dry throats were reduced by 30 percent • Coughing were reduced by 40 percent • Skin irritation were reduced by 25 percent. Plants are also believed to have such a dramatic effect because they both improve indoor air quality and people's perception of the building. Today, horticultural therapy blooms as a profession and a practice. The American Horticultural Therapy Association reports that "horticultural therapy is not only an emerging profession; it is a time-proven practice." Nurturing and caring for plants is a highly interactive and satisfying experience for people of any age, particularly for seniors. As a way of giving back to the senior community while shining a spotlight on the healing benefits of taking care of plants, Initial Tropical Plants, the largest provider of interior landscaping and design installation to businesses in the nation, created the Grassroots Senior Healing program. The company donates plants, containers and talented horticultural employees to volunteer at low-income senior citizen centers and demonstrate the healing benefits of tending to interior plants. Interestingly, planted buildings also have less airborne dust than unplanted ones. The effect is mainly due to increased humidity and static electricity. That's because plants are slightly negatively charged compared with their surroundings and so will attract positively charged dust particles, reducing the number in the air and on surrounding surfaces.
Importance of a logo design in your branding
Your logo. Your business cards. Your advertising. They're all a reflection of you and your company. Properly designed, they communicate to your employees and your customers that your company is credible, trustworthy and professional. Your business image depends on a logo design that is polished and distinctive. Your logo is the cornerstone of your brand. Not only does a high quality logo show your customers that your business is professional, but it also differentiates you from your competitors and creates a powerful memory in the minds of your customers. When they need your product or service, they'll think of you. Imagine as you hand out your next business card. Instead of a passing glance, your prospect stops and admires the style and colors of your logo. You feel a deep sense of pride, that everything your business stands for has been perfectly communicated in just a few seconds. Congratulations, you've made a lasting impression. You want to have a successful business which means you simply cannot afford to have a poorly designed logo. Good logo designers are not only able to design you a professional logo, but they will also make sure that your logo is distinct and unique so as to create a long lasting impression. Therefore the question that now comes to mind is, do we really need logo designers or can just anyone design a corporate logo? The answer to this question is not as simple as it seems. While the obvious answer may be no, the fact of the matter is that we do need professional logo designers because they are specialists in their field and are able to produce quality work that is distinct and one of a kind. Logo designers understand the importance of a corporate logo. They know that designing a logo is no child’s play but that the success of a business depends on it. Professional logo designers are important because designing a logo is not just some haphazard exercise. There is deliberate and well convinced thought that go into making a logo that represents a company and the image it wishes to portray. Logo designing is more than just selecting the right color of a logo, it is about creating an image that aptly represent a company in every sphere that it is presented. Logo designers therefore are of great importance to any business as they can help create logos with a powerful impact and reach. Think about Apple’s logo or the logo of Windows, besides the obvious there is more than just what meets the eye. These logos are not only powerful because they represent a company, but they are powerful because of what they stand for. Good logo designers know how to capture and depict the essence of a business in a single small image. They realize that a solid logo design communicates a company’s identity simply, clearly, and powerfully all at the same time. The company web design field is rapidly growing and expanding. At LogoSuite, we pride ourselves on keeping up to speed by improving our web design skills, developing new design styles, and searching for new typefaces and design ideas.
Hdtv buying guide part one
There’s never been a better time than now to buy a high-definition television (HDTV). Whether your primary source of television programming is local over-the-air broadcasts, cable or digital satellite TV, you will find that there is now a wealth of high-definition programs available. If you have a standard-definition television you will also enjoy all of your widescreen-format DVDs that much more on a HDTV. And with Toshiba now shipping their first-generation HD-DVD players and Blu-Ray players coming to North America next month, there are even more reasons why it makes sense to take the plunge and buy an HDTV. Now that you’re convinced you need to go out and buy a brand new HDTV the question is what type of unit to buy. First, you should decide what size HDTV makes sense for you. Because HDTV’s have a wider aspect ratio (16:9) compared to a standard television (4:3) you will want to choose a larger diagonal screen size for your new HDTV than you might expect. CNET has a great guide you can check to find out the right size that meets your needs. Now that you’ve chosen what size HDTV to get the next question is what type of technology you should look at. Older CRT analog televisions were all based on the same basic technology, but now you have a potentially confusing array of choices: LCD, plasma, DLP, LCoS, and D-ILA. LCD and plasma are both flat panel technologies that can be mounted on walls. If you’re looking for an HDTV less than 42 inches then LCD is probably your best choice. Plasma is a better choice for HDTVs over 42 inches, as current LCD units get very expensive in larger size formats. I just pre-ordered the new Samsung HLS-5087W 50 inch rear projection DLP HDTV. Many believe that DLP technology offers the best price/performance in the 50 inch plus category of HDTV today. Sony has made a large investment in LCoS technology which it brands as SRXD, while JVC brands their LCoS line D-ILA. LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) is most similar to DLP (Digital Light Projection) technology, however many believe the DLP camp has made faster progress on reducing manufacturing costs to offer consumers a better price/performance ratio. While rear projection DLP HDTVs lack the flat panel appeal of LCD and plasma units, they are much lighter and have far less depth than the CRT televisions of the past. You’ve chosen the right size and technology for your new HDTV, and now you’re trying to understand what is 720p versus 1080i versus 1080p. Let me help you out here – don’t bother getting a 720p today. I’d recommend at least a 1080i, better yet a 1080p. My new Samsung is both 1080p input as well as output. In order to understand what all of these strange numbers mean, well, you’ve have to wait until my next article.
17 When is the right time to redesign
When Is the Right Time to Redesign? If you run a website, chances are you often wonder whether it is the right time to do a total redesign of the layout of your website. Here are some points to consider: Are you thinking of a redesign just for the sake of it? If you answered yes to that question, it is not yet the right time to do a redesign. Remember, a design serves a specific purpose. If you are not sure whether to do an overhaul of your site, keep in mind that your current design might have a specific purpose that you might not know about. You will lose that function if you do a redesign. On the other hand, if your website has had the same website design since 1990, perhaps it is high time to do a redesign. The last thing you would ever want to happen to your site is when visitors leave your site without taking a look at your content just because the design is old fashioned. If this is your case, here are some points to ponder before doing a redesign. Redesigning your website is like performing plastic surgery on it. Your website loses its current identity (for the better or worse) and your regular visitors might not recognise your new design at first glance. You risk losing them just because they thought they landed on the wrong page. Hence, it is very important that you retain a characteristic feature from your old layout. Perhaps it is the logo of your site; perhaps it is the same text style for the title for your site. To play it safe, put a poll on your site to let your visitors do the talking. If they think it is necessary for the website to have a fresh look, give it to them!
Buying a franchise... think twice at least
If 2007 is like the past several years, over 65,000 new franchises will be sold in the U. S. and Canada, one every 8 minutes! More and more displaced, outplaced, disgruntled or disappointed people are looking at franchising as a solution to their Career Pains. Whether insecurity, financial limitations, corporate politics, life balance or any one of many such pains, they feel “There must be something better out there”. And they may be right. However, too many people who take the step to business/franchise ownership find out too late that their problems as business owners are more serious than any they faced as employees. No income, a constant drain on savings, a disappearing vision of success and long, long hours are just a few of the factors that make some new business owners wish they had never taken that step. Franchise ownership offers no guarantee of success. In my business, working with people who are considering buying a franchise, I am often asked “What are the biggest reasons people fail?” And some of these people listen intently, then go off on their own and completely disregard what they have been told. I have actually had people say to me, “Well, I can see how that is true for most people but…..” and then go on to say how “different” they are; how their experience or intelligence or “connections” will make them immune to these issues. Part of the reason for being unable to grasp the importance of what they are told is that the reasons for failure, on the surface, sound so simple. As an example, reason #1 “People don’t know what they want”, makes the buyer seem pretty stupid. However, it is easy (and natural) to have an idealized vision of a business based on information that is completely invalid for you; the fact that a neighbor or relative is successful; that a particular franchise is “hot”, or perhaps the business is seen as an extension of a hobby you have always enjoyed. Because it seems so simple, people assume they have their answers and go forward, only to find out, too late, what they should have known. It is only when the reasons for failure are examined closely and deeply that one can understand how very intelligent, successful people make these mistakes. 1. “People don’t know what they want” Prospective franchisees need to spend a great deal of time compiling a list of attributes that complete this sentence: “To meet my personal and professional goals, my business must…….”. This list must go much further than “enable me to make $100,000/year” It should include issues such as “provide time with family”, “offer a creative outlet”, “allow me to manage the business, not run it day-to-day”, etc. Until that list is complete, they really do not know what they want and can not possibly begin looking. 2. “People don’t know what they are buying” With the above list in hand, prospective buyers now have questions for franchisors and franchisees of the prospective franchise that focus on their specific issues. The calls to the franchisees are of utmost importance; these are the people who know the realities of that particular business and the best source of information on what you’re really buying. This step must not be skipped. 3. “People run out of money” Even though the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (required by the FTC to be given to prospective franchisees) is fairly specific in terms of the capital needed to get the business up and running (The Total Investment), without discussions with many franchisees who have done it, many new franchisees just run out of money. Find out from franchisees (1.) how long it took to get to “break even” and (2.) if the Total Investment in the UFOC proved to be valid. Do not assume you can get to break-even sooner than the average or that you can get by with less capital. You cannot! 4. “People don’t use the system for which they paid money” Usually, people seeking their own business have been successful in their previous careers. Unfortunately, that success seems to breed an attitude that “I know a better way”. So, in spite of having paid tens of thousands of dollars for a successful business system, many new franchisees do not follow that system and they fail. The best advice is “Follow the system to the letter until you are successful; then you may have the luxury of innovation. 5. “People don’t know how hard it is going to be” It seems that no matter what they are told, people always under-estimate how hard it is going to be to start their business. As one who has done it several times, take my advice “This is going to be harder than you imagined”. You may be smarter, more experienced, more talented than most. It will still be harder than you think. In closing, it should be noted that after I give the “Harder then you think” advice, I always follow with “but if you are successful, owning your own business can reward you beyond your wildest expectations”. That is, after all, why we do it.
10 Steps to marketing success for artists
Are you an artist who seeks more from their art than it just being a hobby? Then getting interest in your work for it to produce an income is a must. To do this you need marketing and promotional success, which will enable you to start earning a living from your artistic output. Today we are going to talk about 10 ways you can find a market for your work and where you can learn more about what is required of you to be successful. 1. ----- Before you do any painting at all, afford yourself the time to do your market research. One of the biggest reasons for artists failing in their pursuit to become professional is a lack of understanding of what the market wants. Don’t be so arrogant as to assume you know everything and that what you paint is “right”. Chances are that it isn’t, so don’t assume anything. Go out there into the World and see what’s on offer and, more to the point, what is selling. Galleries are full of pictures that don’t sell so ignore those. Ask the proprietor to show you what sells best and why and to whom? 2. ----- Secondly, remember that what you are seeing for sale is what was created for last season. Most galleries stock prints these days for the mass market so you need to know what is coming next rather than what is on show now. Imagine taking inspiration from a style on display only to return with a new offering to be told that is now “old hat”. 3. ----- You must ensure that you visit the trade shows to see what the publishers, independents and importers are offering next seasons market. Even this will meet you a step behind as the artists on display there are already working on next season’s ideas. However, by taking guidance from the trade show you can at least sell to the galleries armed with colours and themes in current context. Most importantly, talk to the publishers about your work and ask them about the process of presenting yourself for consideration. 4. ----- If you are satisfied to sell your work as “original only” you will need to form relationships with good and reputable galleries. The value of art is in its perception by the viewer. For example, if you hang your work in an exclusive gallery, you will expect to command a much higher price than in your local town, side street, so aim high and get the best wall space you can. Talk to several gallery owners and listen to what they have to say. Most will be honest about your work and tell you exactly how likely it is to sell in their establishment. Wall space is valuable so they won’t waste it. You will need a thick skin at times so be prepared for harsh criticism. No matter who you are, some will love your work while others will hate it. 5. ----- Discuss a fair retail price based on a fair price for you and the gallery. If you are happy with a price don’t start flinching when the gallery says they will sell it for maybe over double your price. They have to charge tax for a start, then cover all their expenses and actually find you a buyer before they see any profit for their trouble. So, don’t begrudge them their share. 6. ----- Wherever your work is on show, make an effort to accompany it so you can talk to prospective customers. Art buyers love to meet the artist in person and you can do yourself a great deal of good by putting in an appearance if only at weekends. Talk to the Gallery, they are sure to welcome such proposals. 7. ----- If you are going to sell your work yourself, make use of every opportunity to gain exposure. An excellent new way of doing this is through a fantastic new website facility called DebutDay ( debutday). This site is dedicated to bringing artists to the attention of the World by beating the search engine process and parading you in front of everyone searching for what is latest on the market. It’s inexpensive and you can control what you display and how you present yourself. It’s probably the most proactive site to arrive in a long time and will do as much to find you a publishing opportunity as it will to sell to the general public. If you are serious about your art, you must make use of this site. 8. ----- When you create new works try and adopt a theme for a collection. Single pieces do little to help the buying public form an opinion about you or your work. Some will want to find an artist to collect, so unless they can see more than one example of your work they will find this difficult to do. So, don’t settle for one painting, aim for at least three or four in a set, it will do much for your credibility and will considerably assist your success. 9. ----- Whatever you display for sale, make sure it is accompanied by a Title and a Written Explanation. The buying public love a story, it helps them to understand your work, gain more from the imagery and, believe it or not, such background information will assist them with a good subconscious reason for purchasing. Your information will make them an “informed buyer”. This will in turn allow them to impress their friends when they come to call. 10. ----- Finally, in my experience the biggest mistakes artists make is to try and be something they are not or to try and convince the public of such. Painting a woman with an eye on the side of her head does not make you Picasso so don’t try to be. Artists like him are famous as much for their creation of “the style” as they are for any integral artistic ability. The first rule of creativity is to be true unto yourself, unsuppressed by the need to conform to what others expect or may perceive as “art”. If you do not allow yourself this right of expression you will rarely find joy in painting. But then you must be able to step out of the “real you” and find a way of harnessing your talent in a commercial way that may have more chance to support you until such time as your own passions are recognised as desirable enough in their own right to earn you a living.
How to meet that special someone
Chances are unless you are very lucky you will go thru many different relationships before you find your special someone. Finding your sole mate is like gambling. In poker and blackjack you may have to play dozens of hands until you get a winning hand, and it is the same with relationships. During your life you will probably meet some people who seem like they may be the one, or that they are close, but still have the feeling that something else is missing. My advice is that if you are not happy, because something seems like it is missing, then it usually is not right. Before I found my special someone, I was in a relationship for over 10 years, and I thought everything was great, until I started to seriously consider getting married. Then I noticed that we had so little in common and in reality wanted so many different things out of life and one day we both realized there was much about each of us that we both wanted from someone, but it was not us that we wanted. Then one day I decided I had enough of trying to go to clubs and bars to meet people. I was sick and tired of trying to find someone in the time it takes to finish a drink. It always seemed the ladies I would meet were all wrong for me, or they seemed great after talking to them for 5 minutes but they seemed to have no interest in me. Then one day I had an idea, it was not an original idea but I decided to use the internet to try to find the right person for me. So I proceeded to make a myspace profile. On this page I tried to put the real me and not the funny guy trying to be charming that was looking for love at the bar. And as I would at the poker rooms I went all in, I poured my heart and sole into this. I wrote what I wanted and wrote down who I truly think I am and not who I want to be, and I was rewarded by 1 email responding to my site. It was amazing; the response I got was like a dream. Imagine you are sitting in a Las Vegas casino playing poker. You are down to your last few dollars, you go all in and you wind up being dealt a Royal Flush, and suddenly the sky is bluer, the grass is greener, and all your worries seem to just fade away. At first things were a little awkward for the both of us. We decided to hold of on actually meeting until we got to know each other first. We spent a month just talking everyday on the internet. You can really open up to someone and show them the real you and not have to worry about rejection on the internet, after all you are just a faceless ghost, and if things don’t work out you could be sitting next to her on the bus one day without ever knowing it. The key to finding happiness is realizing you are going to bust more then you are going to get blackjack, but you must keep trying, trying to remember you only need to find the real thing once.
2006 Seattle mariners preview
2005 Overview: The Seattle Mariners provided little for fans to become exited about in 2005. Seattle ended the 2005 season posting the 3rd worse record in the American League finishing up 69-93 which was only a 6 game improvement from the previous year. The Mariners also managed to only score a total of 699 runs all season which ranked 2nd worse in the entire American League behind the Minnesota Twins. The starting lineup for the 2005 Mariners offered very little in the way of offensive spark. Newly acquired 1st baseman Richie Sexson (.263 39 121) proved to become a fan favorite while Adrian Beltre (.255 19 87) also helped. But beyond Raul Ibanez (.280 20 89) and superstar Japanese import Ichiro Suzuki (.303 15 88 33 steals) there really wasn’t much offense to speak of on the club. The 2005 starting pitching also proved somewhat spotty with only Jamie Moyer (13-7 4.28) and Gil Meche (10-8 5.89) posting winning records for the season. Starters Ryan Franklin (8-15 5.10) and Joel Pineiro (7-11 5.62) failed to impress only winning a combined 15 games between the two of them. The only real bright spot in the rotation beyond Moyer and Meche was rookie Felix Hernandez (4-4 2.67). Hernandez was brought up in August and posted an impressive 2-2 record with a 1.84 ERA, striking out 45 in 44 innings while allowing a 1.66 ERA to left-handed batters in his debut month. Relief pitcher Eddie Guardado (2-3 2.72 36 saves) also posted decent numbers out of the bullpen by doubling his save total from 2004. Off Season Moves: Perhaps the biggest move during the 2005 off season for the Mariners was re-signing Jamie Moyer to help keep the starting pitching stable. The Mariners wasted no time by resigning Moyer on December 7th. Jarrod Washburn (8-8 3.20) was also picked up in order to help the starting rotation while the Mariners added some offense as well by signing free agents Matt Lawton (.254 13 53) from Pittsburgh as well as Carl Everett (.251 23 87). Seattle also acquired veteran infielder Fernando Vina (.226 in 29 games with Detroit in 2005). 2006 Analysis: New pitching coach Rafael Chaves looks to have Hernandez and Moyer provide some much needed stability to a weak starting rotation. Look for Hernandez to develop nicely with some much needed guidance. Everett and Lawton will help the lineup greatly. Both will provide better protection for Sexson, Beltre and Suzuki making the 2006 offense more fun to watch then the 2005 version. Expect Seattle to score more then 699 runs with this lineup. The Mariners still lack much needed depth in their starting rotation. Hernandez should have a strong 2006 season and fans should be hopeful that perhaps a surprise or two can pull the Mariners from the basement. Kevin Appier was signed to a minor league contract in early January and if healthy may be just what the rotation has been looking for. Appier managed to post 14 wins in 2002, so the Mariners are optimistic that he has a chance to rebound.
Affordable performance nissan skyline r33 gts25 t
In 1993 the all new Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25-T replaced the successful R32 GTS - T. Little brother to the all conquering GTR the GTS25-T is more affordable and still a thrilling ride. It features a more modern new shape with smooth lines rather than the sharp edges of the previous model. The new looks were debatable some liked the newer styling of the R33 and some preferred the harder edges of the R32. On the road with the R33 the first thing you notice is how smooth the R25DET engine is power delivery is linier and the car pulls hard from 3000rpm to the 7000 rpm redline. The manual coupe version will propel you from 0-100 in 6.18 seconds and complete the quarter in 14.4. Maximum power is 187kw at 6400 and a max torque 295nm at 4800. The RB25DET is a ripper and featured technology ahead of it time. The 2.5 liter turbo intercooled straight 6 features a twin cam head with variable valve timing on the intake side. Handling of the coupe is great with a good balance between comfort and a sports like feel. The rear of the car steered by a system called HICAS which works by calculating the speed and angle of the car through the corners. This feature seems to minimize under - steer and kept the car flat through the corner. The rear on the car is equipped with a viscous LSD and steps out ever so progressively when pushing hard. This makes the car easy to control but if pushed to hard it would be easy to loose the rear end. The skyline is a medium size coupe weighing in at 1360kg and when cornering its a great drive but not quiet as direct or nibble though the bends as the lighter R32 was. But light suspension modifications improve handling significantly. In Australia a good series 1 GTS25-T can be picked up for around $17,000 and a series 2 for around 20,000. With standard features including electric windows and climate control I thinks it is great value for money. With light modifications to the engine and suspension this car can be turned into a street weapon.
You re in the dog house lucky thing
Dogs love being outdoors, I’ll tell you that for nothing. But when the weather is hot and you’re out sunbathing, their fur coat makes them too hot and they’ll search for somewhere cool and shady to lie down. An outdoor dog house or ‘kennel’ is the ideal place for a dog to cool down and relax when all that running around gets too much and not only that but they’re great for house training in the summer. Both owner and dog can relax in the garden and whenever the dog does his business, he is rewarded and learns from the experience. An effortless investment! Dog houses are typically wooden structures in the shape of small houses with a large entrance, and although there is a vast array of designs available for any canine, this stereotypical ‘snoopy’ style dog house remains prevalent. Even ancient Egyptian nobility kept their dogs in kennels and they are still in a high level of production today. Some dog houses are designed to compliment their surroundings. For example, if you live in a log cabin style house then you can buy a log cabin style dog house to match! Dog houses are not limited to being a permanent structure. There has been a dramatic rise in plastic houses that can be collapsed and transported, including a pop-up doggy tent or an igloo style cabin with an external water bowl. The list is endless. In fact, there is almost no limit. Whatever the size, shape or need of your dog, there is guaranteed to be a kennel made of each material to fit the bill. However, wood is the most desirable material used in the crafting of dog houses due to its natural insulation, durability and availability. Red cedar wood is often used in making dog houses as its own resins protect the wood from precipitation damage (rotting and mould) and repel insects such as fleas, ticks and mites. Such structures are also often specially treated to give the wood extra protection against extreme elements for them to last longer. Also, cedar wood has low temperature conducting properties meaning that it doesn’t lose or gain heat easily and will keep a dog cool in the summer and warm in the winter. For the winter months, modern dog kennels can be insulated, particularly in the roof if it is peaked and some are fitted with a self-closing door to keep in the heat. Often these doors have an UV ray filter and are removable. Also, a kennel that is raised above the ground is further away from damp and insects so that a pet is kept dry and safe whatever the weather. Many houses are fitted with a porch and awning so that the pooch can relax whilst watching whatever is going on outside his kennel. Dogs adore the outdoors and they could explore for hours, but at the end of the day the little guys need their rest, and what better way to relax than in their own perfectly sized canine palace!
Does running your car s air conditioner really affect gas mileage
When it gets warm outside, your air conditioner becomes your best friend. This is most definitely true in your car, where temperatures can sky rocket to 170 degrees under direct sunlight. But most people these days are under the impression that the more you run your air conditioner the more gas your car will guzzle. Now that gas prices are higher than the cost to eat at McDonald’s, people are starting to take precautions and do what they can to help with their cars fuel economy. The assumption that running your air conditioner burns way more gas is somewhat untrue. Leaving your air conditioner off makes barely any difference in the amount of gas you burn. With the advent of modern, more fuel efficient cars, this myth is busted! The air conditioner draws its power from the engine which uses some gas, but with today’s cars, this use of gas is minute. The air conditioner can decrease the fuel economy of your car up to 20% in some vehicles, but it depends on the type. Driving with the air conditioner is more fuel efficient than driving with the windows down. Driving with the windows down creates drag which means that your engine has to work harder to keep your car at the current speed; this burns more gas than if you just ran your air conditioner. In the long run, using your air conditioner is far better than any other means of cooling yourself off in the car, unless you’re driving in traffic. When you drive in traffic you aren’t going very fast so the drag on the car is minimal. In these cases, you burn more fuel running the air conditioner than having the windows down. That makes sense. When you drive on the highway you can use either the air conditioner or the “window down” method to cool yourself, because, honestly, there is no noticeable difference in gas usage at those speeds. Learn the three ratios that are used to determine commercial lending
Getting money for your commercial project can be quite a challenge if you do not know how to analyze and present the property properly to a commercial real estate lender. Before presenting your property to a potential lender it is important to determine the most probable ratios that the lender is going to use in making a decision to lend you the money. There is an increased risk with commercial real estate loans because of the size of the loans. Hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars are loaned on commercial properties and projects. A commercial lender wants to make sure that he or she will get their money back from the generated income of the property. Most lenders will use the following three ratios to determine if they will loan the money on a project. The first ratio is the debt coverage ratio or DCR. The DCR applies to the property itself and how much income it is producing compared to the debt service, or how much money is paid out towards the mortgage on a monthly basis. It is expressed by the net operating income divided by the total debt service. The net operating income is the total income left over from the property after paying all the operating expenses. The debt service is determined by the mortgage terms, such as interest rate, length of the loan, and how often a payment is made. The higher the DCR, the more ability the property will have to cover the debt service. Many lenders require a DCR above 1.2 in order to consider it a relatively safe investment. Anything below that indicates that the property is either barely breaking even, or losing money. A lender does not want to loan money on a project that is not able to cover its debt service. The second ratio is the loan-to-value ratio. This is expressed by the total loan balances (sum of all mortgages) divided by the market value. When you apply for a commercial loan, as you do for a residential loan, you must determine how much value of the property you are actually borrowing versus what will remain as equity. If you can acquire a loan-to-value ratio of 75%, then that is generally a good number. If you can get more than 75% of the value loaned to you, then consider that a bonus. Lender’s rules and guidelines may differ greatly depending on how much they are willing to risk on the project. The third ratio is the debt ratio. For smaller commercial projects commercial lenders may require that you submit personal information to back the loan. This includes your personal income and debt on a monthly basis. The debt ratio is expressed by dividing monthly housing expenses by gross monthly income. The results show how much debt stands in relation to income. Many commercial lenders will not accept a debt ratio greater than 25%. However, some commercial lenders have been known to go up to 28% or even 36%. A debt ratio greater than 25% stands a good chance of having budget problems. The lower debt ratio you have, the more likely you will be able to get funding for your smaller commercial project. Before approaching any lender, it is really important to analyze these ratios on your own. They pertain to your specific deal for which you want to get financing. By performing the ratio analysis on your own, you can better determine if financing will be easy or difficult to obtain, depending on the nature of the project and its level of risk. It may be a good idea to contact several potential lenders and ask them their basic criteria and guidelines that they follow in evaluating properties. You may find that some lenders are far more conservative than others. By understanding your property, you can better fit a lender to your specific needs. Also remember that private lenders can be extremely helpful with those risky deals that public lenders will not even consider. Be sure that you are well equipped with the proper information and supporting documentation no matter what lender you approach.
Improve your credit rating yourself tips how to do it
A credit score is a rating system creditors use to help determine whether to give you credit, and how much to charge you for it. If you have ever applied for a credit card, loan, or insurance, then there is a file about you known as your credit report which will include your quality score rating. It is important to check your credit report for accuracy from time to time. This file has information about you and your credit experiences, bill paying history, the number and type of accounts you have, late payments, collection actions, outstanding debt, bankruptcies, and the age of your accounts, collected from your credit application and your credit report. Using a statistical formula, creditors compare this information to the performance of consumers with similar profiles. A credit scoring system awards points for each factor. A total number of points, know as a credit score, helps predict how creditworthy you are, that is, how likely it is that you will repay a loan and make the payments on time. Generally, consumers with good credit risks have higher credit scores. The quality of your credit rating can impact your ability to get credit, insurance and employment. Having good credit means it will be easier for you to get loans at lower interest rates. Lower interest rates usually means lower monthly payments which saves you money. Do you have bad or poor credit? Do you want to improve your creditworthiness and credit rating? Then you are on the right track and there are proven steps you can take on your own to make this happen. Now for the bad news. Only time and effort, along with a personal debt repayment plan will improve your credit report and rating. The good news is that you can do all of the things necessary to improve your credit rating by yourself at little or no cost. Step 1. Develop a personal budget. Take control of your financial situation by doing a realistic assessment of how much money you take in and how much money you spend each month. List your income from all sources. Then, list your "fixed" expenses, those that are the same each month, like mortgage payments or rent, car payments, and insurance premiums. Next, list the expenses that may change or vary from month to month like food, entertainment, recreation, and clothing. Writing down all of your expenses, even those that may seem insignificant, is a helpful way to get a grip on and keep track of your spending patterns, identify necessary expenses, and prioritize your expenditures. The main goal is to make sure you can make ends meet on the basic living necessities like housing, food, health care, insurance, and education. Step 2. Balance your checkbook. Yes it seems common sense to do this but you would be amazed at how many people either don't know how to do it, or just hate balancing their checkbook. If there is something on your bank account statement that is confusing or you just can not quite get right, then go see your banking representative for help. Either way, it is absolutely critical to control your checkbook or it will continue to control you. Step 3. Create a plan to save money and pay down your debts. You might say ... hey, I can not pay all of my bills now, how am I going to save any money? That is why getting your personal budget under control is so critical. Cutting your monthly expenditures for items that are not absolutely needed will be necessary in order to get your budget under control. It sounds simplistic, but your goal is to have more money coming in each month, than the amount of money you spend each month. Until you find a way to make this basic truth happen, you will not be able to pay off your debts and become more credit worthy in the eyes of lenders. Not quite sure how to accurately gather and itemize all of your monthly expenditures and compare them to your monthly income? You can find lots of helpful resources available online, at your local library, or at bookstores that address money management techniques, personal finance and budgeting. Step 4. Pay your bills on time. Goes without saying but it is necessary in order to show lenders that you are improving and are capable of making on time payments each month. If you're having trouble making ends meet then contact your creditors immediately. Tell them why it's difficult for you, and try to work out a modified repayment plan that reduces your payments to a more affordable level. Don't wait until your accounts have been turned over to a debt collector. At that point, your creditors have given up on you. These are some of the painful but necessary steps you must take in order to improve your creditworthiness and rating in the eyes of current and future lenders. So, embrace these steps and make it work for your needs.
The stress and anxiety of a reporter
Every long journey must face its consequential end - and so it is with the career of reporter. The journalistic odyssey of every reporter must eventually reach the end point... the last report from the field. The long years of tedious work in covering beats, going to different places, meeting different personalities and dignitaries – all these have induced stress and anxiety even on the most hardiest news reporter. As a reporter, a part of me rejoices while another part laments. It is really a difficult to swim in the polluted waters of politics and treacherous waters of truth-telling. However, with a deep sense of integrity and love for work, I managed to keep my head above the water. Eating death threats for breakfast, averting every danger while covering rally dispersals, and rendering more than the usual regular work hour just to substantiate and give justice to the news that people read and need. The stress and anxiety challenged not only my physical strength but also the stability of my emotions, and my commitment to the principles of journalism. Amidst all the challenges of journalism, I always found strength in God who is the Truth. Taking the long, arduous road to the factual truth was truly worth it. It is not everyday that a news item can enlighten the masses to the point of inspiring them to take action. All the stress and anxiety of the work seemed to be of little importance compared to the fulfillment of having brought to the people the information they need. Quite frankly, I went through heaven and hell just to find my own place in the competitive world of journalism. I, too, had to make sacrifices in terms of time and energy just to fulfill my calling. Like every journalist who tried to maintain integrity in work – I, too, had to tread my own via dolorosa – my road to suffering. Chasing one scoop after another, haggling to get the best shot and the most exclusive interviews among the Who's Who --- it was expected that I would sooner or later slow down due to stress and anxiety. Many times, I have contemplated about my worthiness to be a reporter. Modesty aside, my journalistic record already shows that I have what I takes to see my articles in print. Perhaps, like my fellow writers who have finished the struggle before me --- I, too, have earned my right...to have a place in this world. Admittedly, there were times when I fell due to self-doubt and envy. But something within me gave me reassurance that I could stand together with the best of them --- if I could only stop comparing myself to others. Thankfully, I learned that being a reporter...being a writer is such a solitary work. In the same manner, I should also learn to judge my own work --- motivated not by the need to belong or to get approval from others, but for the sheer love of the craft and the desire for continuous self-improvement as a writer and journalist. My experiences as a writer-reporter reminds me of the story about a man who found favor in the eyes of God. An angel of the Lord appeared to the man and said that he can have three wishes. The only catch was that whatever he wishes for, his neighbor will be granted twice of what he wished for. In reverent awe, the man fell on his knees and thanked the Lord for the blessing he has received. He first wished to have 1,000 heads of cow, and in effect, his neighbor received 2,000. His second wish was for a son, and subsequently his neighbor had twins. In a sudden bout of envy, he asked the Lord to gouge out his left eye so that his neighbor would lose both eyes. The angel of God was saddened by his wish and never granted the last request. Indeed, man must never fall into the trap of envy. Instead, we must strive for excellence while wishing good for our fellowmen. As a reporter, stress and anxiety will always be present and should be treated as part and parcel of being a journalist. In summary, a reporter-writer must not only search after the truth. He must also be a force for good.
Incontinence improving muscle tone
Incontinence is one of the most common problems among women these days. A treatable disorder, whose main symptom is frequent urination and leakage. An overactive bladder and incontinence affects 12 million North American women. Incontinence occurs when the urethra loses support from the vaginal walls. Overactive bladder is closely linked to incontinence, and is characterized by such symptoms as frequent urination, insomnia due to the urge to urinate at night, urine leakage, and even bed-wetting. An overactive bladder is often caused by bladder stones, surgery or neurological disease. Among the main risk factors for incontinence are excessive weight, smoking, pregnancy, stress and infections of the bladder, such as cystitis. Aside from being a physical health issue, incontinence and suffering with an overactive bladder can result in emotional and mental health issues. Frequent urination can be an embarrassing problem. As a result, many women who suffer from incontinence become socially inactive, abandoning social activities. Many women even stop seeing other people. Childbirth is a major cause of incontinence, with age and menopause contributing to the problem. Vaginal childbirth frequently causes pelvic damage because the pressure of the fetal head displaces and stretches parts of the pelvic anatomy, most specifically, the vaginal walls. With the onset of menopause women can become estrogen deficient which can cause the vagina to thin which prevent the urethral walls from closing well. This lack of closure translates into incontinence. There is no unique treatment strategy for incontinence and overactive bladder. You can prevent leakage of urine temporarily using diapers and pads, or even undergo a surgery. For bladder infections, there are a number of traditional and herbal remedies, such as cleaver or Marshmallow root teas that help toning bladder muscles. Incontinence and other bladder problems don’t necessarily have to be treated with medications. Pelvic muscles can be strengthened and toned, just like any muscle in the body, to prevent spontaneous urine leakage. These exercises, called after the doctor Kegel who invented them, are often prescribed to pregnant women. In the same time, Kegel exercises can tighten the muscles that control stream of urine. You can locate these muscles by stopping and starting the flow of urine. Women, who are already being treated for incontinence, can start doing 3 sets of 50-60 repetitions of Kegel exercises a day. Then, as the muscles strengthen, women can do as much as a hundred Kegels a day - not at one time, of course! Quite conveniently, Kegel exercises can be easily done everywhere, as they are completely invisible. There are even vaginal weights to be used when doing Kegel exercises. You can develop your own Kegel routine by adding variations of exercise, such as elevation Kegels or holding the pressure for a few seconds. Women who practice Kegels admit that these simple exercises have the added benefit of greatly improving their sex life. The most important message for women who suffer from any form of urinary incontinence is that in 80 to 90 percent of people it can be significantly improved or even cured.
For your health self employed health insurance
One of the major hassles of being self employed is the need to find an affordable health insurance plan that doesn't break the bank as you're trying to keep your own business running successfully. With all the articles and news casts about the ever rising costs of health care, the thought of finding an appropriate insurance policy that is also cheap can seem like a daunting task at first glance. The good news is that if you are self employed then you have an abundance of choices in health insurance options. There is individual health insurance, small group health insurance, discount plans, and then the process of looking at various insurance companies and allowing them to bid away for your business. The most important aspect of finding a good health insurance plan is to be organized and to do your research before you actually start the process of shopping. Individual health insurance is often the best way to go because these policies tend to be the cheapest. This has a major asterisk, in that your family will not get coverage. If you are single, this is not an issue. If you have small children or a pregnant wife, then this is a very big deal. If individual health insurance is a viable option, you should strongly pursue these policies as they usually cost only 50% as much as group plans or other options. Small group health insurance often takes place when a group of small business owners band together (and some states require only as few as two people) in order to get insurance coverage. If this is much more expensive, then why choose this over individual health insurance? It depends on your history. If you are older, then having a group of younger individuals can bring down the cost. Also, if you have a pre-existing condition then they still can not turn you down. These are the two best options for most self-employed individuals, although there are other options, though often with more danger of the unscrupulous side of things getting involved. One thing to note, is that at least of the writing of this article laws have been passed so that your individual health insurance is 100% tax deductible in the United States. That's right: every penny spent in a policy to keep you covered can be used as a tax write off from Uncle Sam. This can strongly help to off-set what may seem like prohibitive costs from covering yourself via an individual health insurance policy. Health insurance is important, and self-employed health insurance is even more so since you are solely responsible for lost income, as well as your own health. There are companies who specialize in insurance for small businesses, so check around to see what type of a special deal they might be able to offer. There are a wide arrange of options out there, so just do your research and look around and you'll find the right self employed health insurance for you.
Your transformation from novice to expert texas hold em poker player
Your transformation from novice to expert Texas Hold ‘em Poker player begins by making sound judgments using all the information that you have at your disposal. The acquiring of information begins even before your first two hole cards are even dealt to you. Before the first cards are even dealt you should begin by considering your position at the table. The table should be divided up as follows: Early Position 2-3 Players to left of the blinds Middle Position Players 4 through 7 Late Position 8-10 Small and Big Blind Early Position – When you are seated in early position you are making you’re betting decisions before getting a chance to see what the other players are going to do. You are making you’re decisions without information on what hands your opponents may have. You will not be acting from a position of strength. For this reason, if you do not have one of the better starting hands, you should consider folding. Middle Position – This position will allow you to play more hands than if you were seated in the early position since you will get to see what the other players in front of you are going to do. There are also not as many players who will act behind you so you are not as susceptible to a raise as you would be in an early position. For this reason, you can play the best starting hands aggressively. Raising and re-raising opponents would be a sound strategy. In middle position you can use a raise to help you determine the strength of your opponents’ hands – Do they fold, call or re-raise? How they react to your raise can tell you a lot about what they may be holding. Late Position – This is the most advantageous position at the table. You get to see what most of the other players in front of you are going to do. You get to act with the most information available to you. Being seated in late position allows you to play a wider selection of hands. Being “on the button” – the dealer - is the best position. This is because you will act last. You will have the advantage of seeing what all the others in front of you have done. Here again, raising and re-raising opponents would be a sound strategy. Being seated in late positions allows you to play a little looser. Small and Big Blinds – While these do act last before the flop, you are acting last in every round after the flop. This makes it one of the more difficult positions on the table. As a general rule of thumb, you should expect to play a tight game when you are seated in one of the early positions and looser when in late position. You will put yourself on the winning path in limit hold ‘em by playing good hands and showing sound judgment on when to be aggressive. • There are some very good reasons to be aggressive and raise the pot, especially before the flop, such as: • You have one of the best starting hands and by raising, you get more money into the pot. • You want to force opponents with weaker hands out of the game. There is no sense in letting someone hang around and give them the chance to hit the flop. Others in front of you have folded. The likelihood that your hand is the best increases as others fold. Of course there are also some good reasons to not raise: • Someone else has raised. • You don’t want to narrow the field. An example of this is when you are drawing for a flush or straight. You are risking less up front for a hand that you may or may not make. By keeping more players in the pot, you have the potential to win a larger pot if you do hit your hand. • You’re raises don’t work. This happens in very low limit games and/or games with poor players. They all react to raises by raising and re-raising. The large pots tempt players to hang around with lower ranked hands and increase the possibility that one of them may hit a card on the turn or river that will beat your hand. By studying and knowing your opponents you’ll know how they play hands and you’ll know when your raises will or will not work.
Three important house selling tips
: There are hundreds of good house selling tips that can help you when the time comes to put that sign in the yard. Some are more important than others though. Here are three of the most important points.
1. Understand Value. Your home is not worth more because you like it, and it may not even be worth more after you spend $10,000 making it the way you like it. It is worth what others will pay. One of the worst parts of a real estate agent's job is trying to explain to a nice couple that their $45,000 in kitchen improvements only added $10,000 to the value of the house.
It is easy to see the problem with pricing too low, but making less money is a problem of pricing too high as well. You have costs that you pay while waiting to sell. Also, people are suspicious of homes that have sat unsold for a year, and less likely to make an offer even if you have finally lowered the price. The perfect buyer who would have paid the most, might have looked at the home when it was over-priced and walked away. To get the most money, price it right to begin with.
2. Understand The Market. Who are your potential buyers? A sign in the yard wont help much if you're selling a summer home in the woods and all the buyers are in the city. Once you identify who the likely buyers are, you or your agent can decide which ways to market the property.
Are you in a quiet neighborhood that is attracting retirees? If so, you would want to advertise the fact that your house has one level. "No stairs!" can be an important selling point to older buyers. If the neighborhood is one that is likely to attract young couples, however, it would be a waste of words. Consider your market before you try to sell.
3. Cost-Effective Preparations. Of course you should clean the house and mow the lawn. The other things you do to get ready for the sale should be cost effective though. As a rule, you should first do those things that will give you a three-to-one return on your money.
It isn't important (or possible) to be precise. The point is to do things that raise the value more than they cost. $1,000 to repave the driveway may increase the value of the house by $3,000, but a $50,000 pool might add only $25,000 in value. Start by replacing that dented mailbox, and work on those things that get "the most bang for the buck."
If you have the time and motivation, you can find endless little house selling tips. That may not be a bad idea, but why not start with the important things first?
Visual learners on memorization
Memorization techniques, tips and advices can be found everywhere. Probably there are just so many things you’ve already read off from books, magazines and of course the Internet but then there is always some methods that apply better for you which may not work for others. Whichever the case, your imagination plays a big part in getting your memorization tasks done for you. Visual learners benefit greatly from using memorization techniques that pertains to imagination and creativity. Since visual learners can manage to create and rely on a mental image that they retain in the brain, it is strongly encouraged for them to stick to this side of their imagination. It’s even better for visual learners to create a wild or silly scenario or a movie. It doesn’t have to be perfect, even silly or hilarious ideas are accepted for this kind of purpose. The purpose for one to memorize effectively has got something to do with the approach he uses; so even if it’s just a series of spontaneous mental images, as long as it stirs the imagination amusingly, it’s fine. When you already have a sequence of mental images, then you can start playing it back and forth in your mind until you familiarize yourself with its details and sequence. If visual learners can create a short movie, so they can also make use of stories. These are still mental stories that can be created from words you’re not familiar with. This is also applicable for memorizing words; an example would be words in a list or even words from a poem. For these types of instances, a mnemonic approach called the journey system would be applicable. Let’s say you have several items needed in a list, let’s use several items you have in your own room since it’s the place in your heart closest to you (assuming it is). Pretend the items below are the things you need: Glass jars, thread, comb, paintbrushes, and a masscara Upon getting up in the morning, you look at your bedroom window and a number of glass jars hangs as curtains and then you try to fix your blanket which is made of thread. Next, you face your bathroom mirror and chooses from a hundred selection of comb displayed on the wall. As you wash your face, you turn the handle of your faucet which is made of paintbrush. Lastly, just before you go out of your room, you pick up your brush your teeth with toothbrush that looks just like a masscara.
Of shipwrecks and hooped skirts
Ships have been linked to Australian history through an umbilical cord. And so have been shipwrecks. Sail by the coasts of Australia, and you are sure to find one or two submerged hulks peeping out of the ocean surface. Sail by the North East coast, and chances are you will join the host of submerged hulks in the Great Barrier Reef, a magical stretch of ocean that has brought down many. There are many enchanting and romantic tales of such bravado, ill-fate, or sheer pig-headedness around such wrecks. This is one such. Early in 20th century, 1911 to be precise, Magnetic Island was a rising centre of commerce. Doctor McCabe had a lavish paradise, aptly named Arcadia, where his rich female friends and acquaintances could visit. It was also the high time for bloomers and hooped skirts. The windy bay was precarious to the women’s modesty and Doctor McCabe, a dentist by profession, wanted to indulge the dignity of the women. He decided to install a breakwater, thus softening the windy ambience so threatening to his female friends. The idea was to tug along Moltke, an 827 ton vessel that had seen better days, which had ran aground on a reef at the northern end of Flinders Passage, between Townsville and Cape Bowling Green. Our doctor brought in a local bloke who claimed some expertise in explosives. They attached the Moltke to a tugboat, planning to blow the explosives on the Moltke when it was situated properly to act as a breakwater for Arcadia’s jetty, the prospective abode of our modest ladies. Our explosive bloke lit the fuse a little bit too soon, and seeing this tug-boat skipper cut the rope leaving Moltke on its own. To make virtue out of a situation gone hilariously wrong, the bloke and the doctor jump against an impressive firework, and they survive to ‘drill and fill another day’. Moltke went straight in the wrong place, and in shallow water. She did provide a sheltered anchorage for small crafts for many years, although she was no use as a breakwater for McCabe's jetty, and the merry citizens of Magnetic Island still remember the day a dentist blew the Moltke away. Today, many ferry services carry tourists to a concrete ramp only hundred metres away from where the Moltke gloriously sank. The stretches around the Great Barrier Reef is the graveyard of many more such glorious wreckages. A little further away from where Moltke sank, is the remains of another vessel called Maria – but it is another nice tale to be told another day. Lieutenant James Cook famously came along this route only, and discovered an island continent. In his train he brought criminal inmates, plundering gold prospectors, and today’s tourists. They come, they see, and they leave with enchanting tales of submerged hulks peeping out of historical times, shaking hands with a precarious present. Magnetic Island lies off Townsville. It is well connected by ferries from the mainland. Unless you plan to stay in Townsville you may stay in nearby Cairns, Reef Palms which provides vacation rental special offers with Cairns vacation accommodation, Great Barrier Reef trip and rainforest tour.

As a buyer, if you are scammed or less than satisfied with the item when it arrives, you can dispute the charge easily, and demand a refund. The seller must reply and show proof that the item was shipped, or Paypal will return your funds to your account. As a seller, you can shield yourself by only accepting Paypal. This will remove the chances of receiving a bad check or having the buyer dispute a credit card charge. Instead, they must dispute the charge through PayPal, and you of course will be able to provide evidence that you shipped the product. Another frequent scam that buyers use is the bidding scam. This type of scam is run either with two separate eBay accounts - with one person in control of both of them, or with two friends with separate eBay accounts. A very small bid is placed on your item, using one account. This is followed by a very high bid, from the other eBay account. Before the bidding ends, the high bid is cancelled or withdrawn, leaving the low bid as the winning bid. If you are an eBay seller, you can further protect your auctions by placing a notice on your auctions page declaring that you have the right to back out of the sale if you suspect potential fraud.
Magnetic therapy for pain relief
Although mainstream science has yet to recognize magnet therapy as an effective branch of alternative medicine, an increasingly large number of people are beginning to use it as a supplementary treatment for a variety of health-related conditions. Personal testimonials as to the positive effects of magnet therapy are plenty, attesting to the general satisfaction of its practitioners. Those opposed to magnet therapy often argue that positive results are merely a product of the placebo effect – but to that we say, who cares? If the purpose of a therapy is to relieve the sensation of pain, and the therapy achieves that purpose successfully, then the therapy – placebo or not – is an effective one. The goal of this article is not to argue the effectiveness of magnet therapy, for that is another matter in itself. Rather, we would like to provide you with an overview of some of the more common uses of magnet therapy, focusing on the use of magnets as a supplementary treatment for pain. Do note: when we say supplementary, we mean just that. Magnet therapy should not be viewed as a substitute for regular visits to the doctor, recommended surgeries or medications, etc. It is generally in conjunction with conventional treatments that magnet therapy can be at its most effective. Modern magnet therapy products come in all shapes and sizes, and are made of a variety of materials. Magnetic jewelry is an especially popular accessory, as it affords the wearer a fashionable and discreet means of using magnet therapy. Other magnet therapy products include back and joint supports and magnetic bandages, which are designed to offer more concentrated treatments for pain and discomfort in specific parts of the body; magnetic insoles for shoes; magnetic seat and mattress pads; and a wide variety of other products out there on the market. Magnet therapy in its various forms has been claimed to produce positive pain relieving effects in the treatment of a great number of conditions, including back and neck pain, arthritis, muscle soreness, carpal tunnel syndrome – and the list goes on and on. NY Times best selling author Gary Null’s Healing with Magnets (1998) contains an extensive review of the various uses of magnet therapy for pain relief and other positive health benefits. Some people are so firmly convinced by the effectiveness of magnet therapy that they choose it as an alternative to over-the-counter painkillers. One of the advantages of using magnet therapy as an alternative to painkillers is that there appear to be no inherent risks associated with magnet therapy other than the possibility of it being ineffective. Meanwhile, painkillers sometimes have side effects that can result in serious health problems for users. The effectiveness of painkillers is also debatable, as over-the-counter medications are limited in their effectiveness to begin with. Furthermore, users can build up tolerances to drugs they take frequently, rendering them even less effective for pain relief. To conclude, we state again that magnet therapy is not a proven avenue of medical treatment, but that for many people it does act as an effective supplementary treatment for pain and discomfort. The best way to test it is to try it out for yourself. Magnet therapy products tend to be relatively inexpensive – so get yourself a bracelet and see what you think. If it isn’t doing anything for you, then at least you’ve got a nice new addition to your jewelry collection!
Plug in hybrid car
Plug-In Hybrid Cars: A Cheaper Alternative Because of the constant increase in fuel prices, many people are now considering getting rid of their gas guzzling conventional car and are now purchasing a cheaper alternative. Some people purchase cars with smaller engines for fuel efficiency and some people are now thinking of purchasing the car with the latest technology that enables them to cut fuel consumption by half. These cars are called plug-in hybrid cars. With this car, you will be able to cut fuel consumption by more than half by taking advantage of the hybrid technology that many car manufacturers are now integrating in their new car models. Although plug in hybrid cars have existed for quite some time now, it was only about a few years ago that it was released in the market. Plug-in hybrid cars are cars that combine the gasoline energy and the electric energy to run or to propel the car. Plug-in hybrid cars will enable you to run your car up to a hundred miles per gallon depending on the engine and the battery installed. If you think that getting a good mileage per gallon is non existent, think again. With the technology being integrated by car manufacturers in their hybrid vehicles, it is now possible. This vehicle has two engines to run your car. One is the gasoline engine and the other is the electric motor. Just imagine a car that has an extension cord that you can plug-in in your home electricity outlet to recharge. You don’t even to worry about the cost of your electric bill because the recharging will just be equal to less than a dollar per gallon. Just imagine a car that has two fuel sources. If one runs out, the car will still be able to run. You don’t have to plug in your plug-in hybrid car but if you do, your vehicle becomes an electric vehicle that will be able to run quietly, cleaner, cheaper and more efficient than conventional gasoline powered cars. You have to consider that the gasoline tanks are there for long driving purposes. However, when you are only driving locally, you don’t need to fill your car with gasoline. All you need to do is plug-in your car to your home's electric outlet and once it is fully charged, your car will be ready to go using the electric motor. Imagine the savings that you can get with a plug-in hybrid car. However, these things are not the only benefits that you can get with plug-in hybrid cars. You will be shocked once you find out about the other benefits that you can get with a hybrid car. If you have a hybrid car, the service cost will tend to be lower because it is mainly electric. Another great thing about plug-in hybrid cars is that it will be able to power your home in case of power outage. It can act as an electricity generator. Recently, tax incentives have been imposed by the government to hybrid car buyers. This means that as a buyer of a plug-in hybrid car, you will be able to enjoy tax breaks. You will also help improve the condition of the environment because it runs on the cleanest energy source available, which is electricity. This means that the car will produce no toxic emissions when it is running on electricity. Also, when it runs on gasoline, the emissions are also very low because of the small size of the gasoline engine. These are some of the benefits that you can get with plug-in hybrid cars. So, if you think that you are spending too much on gasoline for your gas-guzzling conventional vehicle, you can start saving money by getting a plug-in hybrid car.
Help your child kick the thumbsucking habit
Help your Child Kick the Thumb Sucking Habit Thumb sucking is a concern many parents have. Toddlers suck their thumbs because it's comforting and calming. It's probably something they did before they were born and revert back to it when they are nervous, agitated, scared or ill. They may also use it to lull themselves back to sleep in the middle of the night. Parents shouldn't concern themselves unless it continues after the age their permanent teeth begin to appear, around six years old. Experts say that it's the intensity of the thumb sucking and the tongue's thrust that deforms teeth and makes braces necessary later. Children who rest their thumb passively in their mouth are less likely to have difficulty than children who suck aggressively. If you're concerned, closely monitor your child and analyze his technique. If they appears to be sucking vigorously, you may want to begin curbing their habit earlier. Punishing or nagging your child to stop won't help because it's usually an automatic response. Attempting to curb it by putting an elastic bandage on his thumb or another method will seem like unjust punishment, especially since they indulge in the habit for comfort and security. Try to wait it out. Children usually give up thumb-sucking when they've found other ways to calm and comfort themselves. Consider offering them other alternatives to comfort themselves such as a soft blanket or lullaby toy The key is to notice when and where they are likely to suck their thumbs and offer an alternative. If it happens while they are tired, try giving more naps. If they suck their thumb frequently while watching television, try to distract them with a toy that will keep their hands occupied. Older children may need gentle reminders to curtail thumb sucking while in public, and praise should be given freely when the child finds and uses an acceptable alternative. Your child's pediatric dentist can offer other suggestions for helping your child kick the thumb sucking habit.
Hotel rocamar ibiza reviewed
Hotel Rocamar is a small holiday/business hotel situated in the area of Talamanca, the exclusive area of Ibiza town. It isn't such a tourist factory as most hotels on the island of Ibiza. Quiet the contrary, it only has 16 rooms. The building originates from the 60's. As far as known it has always been a hotel/pension. The current owners bought the old Hotel Rocamar back in 2001. Back in the 60's the hotel already had a vast group of steady visitors, some of which have been coming there since the 60's. In 2004 it was decided to renovate place dramatically without having it losing its traditional characteristics. Decided was for a modern, design interior and state of the art equipped rooms. As a result nowadays rooms are equipped with plasma screen TV, air conditioning, heating (yes for in the winter!) as well as a bunch of other small amenities at customer's disposal. Further the whole place has wireless internet connection. Most clients of the hotel come there for the extremely laid down atmosphere, the very qualified and informal staff and off course to enjoy the sun and nightlife for which Ibiza is famous. Here the staff knows many of their customers by first name. Checking in isn't a time consuming or aggravating process here. Known customers are just being saluted and handed the key; that's all! Like people come "home". Foreign languages aren't an obstacle neither as staff speaks seven without any problems and is always happy to chitchat with the customers. What sort of people go to the Rocamar? During summer season mostly holiday seekers. People that like the personalised treat that can be expected in a hotel with only 16 rooms. As said before: people aren't numbers here. Clients love the quietness in the Rocamar and enjoy relaxing at the hotel's terrace with perhaps the most beautiful views on the Ibiza Bay and the old town capital. During winter the hotel stays open, with only a 6 weeks break around the Christmas holidays. During winter many business travellers frequent the hotel as well as some tourists that like the winter quietness on the island. Don't forget, Ibiza, in summer, is a main party center with some of the most renowned discotheques in the world. Unfortunately not all of Rocamar's 16 rooms are of the same seize. They are varying from rather small to average size room amongst hotels in Ibiza. The reason for this is the "old" building structure which doesn't leave any space for alternatives. Sometims this has lead to initial disappointments with clients although usually the excellent quality of the room interior makes up for this inconvenience. Futher it is a petty that Rocamar doesn't have a an active restaurant anymore at the moment. The area where the restaurant used to be is currently only used for the, included, breakfast. Further due to lack of space within the property a swimming pool isn't available neither although customers may use the pool of a neighbouring hotel. Compared to the earlier days nothing has changed with respect to Rocamar's customers. The customers keep coming back, year after year and some of them were there in the late 60's already. rocamaribiza
Raised bed gardening what are the benifits
For this article I'm going to stray from my normal topic of Internet marketing and indulge myself with one my passions........gardening........,in particular raised bed gardening. So here we go! Where soil is of poor quality and drainage inadequate, raised bed gardening makes it simple to create patches of fertile, well-drained soil. This can, in turn save money as well as time to! It is considerably cheaper and less effort than installing a drainage system and then trucking in topsoil. Combined with good drainage control, you can grow all sorts of fussy plants. Raised bed gardening elevates plants to a more workable level, making them easier to tend to. Raised bed gardening is also great for vegetable or cutting gardens. For gardeners in wheelchairs or with back pain, raised bed gardening is a godsend. Just make sure the area between the beds is wide and firm enough for ease of movement. Raised bed gardening is extremely low maintenance too. Plants can be kept organized, and all the soil and debris can be kept within its borders. This means a serious reduction in your hard work! There are many reasons for the Raised beds revival. But probably the most important is more production per square foot of garden. Raised beds don't require the usual space between rows because you don't walk in the bed to cultivate or harvest. Greater production can be achieved with raised bed gardening because of the lack of soil compaction. In a normal garden you have to leave space between the plants in order to work them properly. This then leads to soil compaction which can reduce crop yields up to 50 percent. All a plants needs i. e water and air have trouble moving through compacted soil. When compaction isn't the only problem, then raised bed gardening can help there to. Homeowners may have areas unsuited for conventional gardens. Raised bed gardening will physically rise above these, with frames as its foundation. It allows you to recycle problem spots! Raised beds are also a boom with pest control to. If you get an invasion of furry little criters, simply line the bed with poultry wire or some hardware cloth. You can discourage rabbits by placing their favorite foods in a framed bed with a low fence. Well, i hope Ive done a decent job of highlighting some of the benefits of raised bed gardening. Abstract art and the spirit 1
It has been a long and raging arguement that the abstract expressionists of the 50's, 60's and 70's were very busy contemplating their own navels and trying to find the "zen" in everything they did. I would argue that they were in fact just one very important example of the hungry sleep-drugged soul seeking a way to be heard. However, many artsists of those times, and indeed today, would flatly deny anything remotely to do with spiritual things - or worse still - religious things. Take, for instance, one of my favourites - Mark Rothko. This tragic artist committed himself to the task of producing massive canvases with many vaguely resembling the outline of a window - especially an after image once the eye has closed. His vast expanses of colour seemed to hunt out a corner or edge in a desperate attempt to complete, or conclude, the picture. Not satisfied with that he went on to give up titling his work saying that he did not want to influence the onlooker in any way. Ironically he failed ... and sadly took his own life. For me his works speak of wonderful tantilizing clues visually demonstrating the struggling spirit seeking (and succeeding!) in revealing herself - now that is real influence! Let me explain by an apparently unrelated route: I seek to assist my own spirit in attempting to make manifest even the tiniest, most pathetic, weakest fact that the spirit in us all is not only just trying to communicate with us - but is in fact actively seeking to set the whole human balance right ... which is the spirit leading the mind and body back to her source - not the other way round - the mind and body leading the blinded soul to ... well, eventually death. Not so long ago I came across the writings of Meister Eckhart, a fourteenth century Christian mystic. His words amazed me. He described in his many sermons what he believed to be the truth as to why we are here. He also revealed many tantilizing "images" of the spirit from the least angelic being right up to God Himself. His descriptions were ... how can I put it simply? ... abstract! In one of his sermons he described God as ... "unknowable" ... "not able to be understood" ... "undefinable". In another he made a statement (one of many which may have contributed to him being accused of heresy!) "People say God exists ... God does not exist ... " left out of context that would be a truly blasphemous assertion. But he went on to say that "... God is far greater ... God is beyond existance". These and many other controversial sayings have impressed me so much that I have come to "see" God as an abstract entity - not, I hasten to add, an anarchic abstract form - but rather a God far more powerful, far more greater - than I can imagine ... in other words totally undefinable. Rather than this putting a distance between me and God, it has done exactly the opposite. And when Eckhart began to describe the life of Christ in an almost completely abstract way - Eckhart said that Christs life was the greatest example of the seeking and finding the uncreated source of the pure soul - my imagination began to run like a film of frenzied obscure visuals. Eckhart has become, to me, the patron saint of abstract artists. The beauty of Eckharts enigmatic words are intensely inspiring. What better way to illustrate his poetic writings than to describe Gods "isness" in the very basic form of a gigantic flat area of one saturated colour untainted by anythingelse. Strangely enough this could be part of an exact description from one of Rothko's immense, sometimes almost monochromatic, paintings. But this is by no means the whole story ... one of Eckhart's contradictions said that on the one hand God is totally unapproachable, yet at the same time God is actually very, very approachable ... However, that is another article.
